Rev. Sara Hayden

Sara Hayden is the executive director of the Tri-Presbytery New Church Development Commission,, which strategically advances the vision of the Presbyterian Church (USA) to “grow Christ’s church — deep and wide” by developing and supporting diverse missional faith communities in the metro Athens, Atlanta and Augusta areas and throughout north Georgia. Sara is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Truman State University; she earned her Master of Divinity degree from Columbia Theological Seminary, where she was a Columbia Scholar. Prior to seminary, Sara studied development sociology at the University of Havana, Cuba, and also served as associate director of Centro Latino in rural Milan, Missouri. She has traveled and studied in Mexico, Costa Rica, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Haiti.

A 2003 and 2005 FTE Fellow, Sara studied "ritual practices of solidarity" and "the sojourner among us" with refugees and migrants along the US-Mexico border as a part of her Ministry Fellowship. She is delighted to serve on the board of the Fund for Theological Education as it strengthens Christian ministry in the world by nurturing the quality of its leadership.

Sara is married to Chris Henry, who is Pastor of Shallowford Presbyterian Church. They live in Atlanta, GA.
