Dr. Kita McVay

Kita McVay is past president of United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities, a United Church of Christ seminary in New Brighton, Minn. She served United for four years as interim president and president, as chair of its board of trustees for five years, and as a trustee for 18 years.

Dr. McVay is a director and officer of Minnwest Corporation, a bank holding company that operates community banks in Minnesota and South Dakota, and an officer of the McVay Foundation. She currently chairs the board of trustees at Hamline University in St. Paul, where she helped to create and establish Hamline’s McVay Youth Partnership and Fellows program, which provides tutoring, mentoring and other support to local schoolchildren. McVay’s professional experience includes a business career as a grain trader and manager for Cargill, Inc.

She is a long-time member of Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church in Minneapolis, where she has held numerous leadership positions and taught Sunday school for more than 20 years. McVay received her bachelor’s degree from Barnard College of Columbia University in New York City and earned a master’s degree and doctor of divinity degree from United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities.
