Dr. Daniel O. Aleshire

Dan Aleshire is Executive Director of the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada (ATS), a membership organization of more than 260 graduate schools. ATS conducts post-baccalaureate professional and academic degree programs to educate persons for the practice of ministry and for teaching and research in the theological disciplines.
An ordained minister, educator and author, Dr. Aleshire first joined the ATS staff in 1990 as associate director for accreditation and was named associate executive director in 1996. He was elected to his post as executive director in 1998. Previously, Aleshire served on the faculty of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary from 1978 to 1990 and, before that, as a research scientist at Search Institute in Minneapolis, where he worked on projects related to theological education, church-related higher education and youth service agencies. Prior to that appointment, he was pastor of Bergen Baptist Church in Waldwick, New Jersey.
Aleshire has written extensively on issues of ministry, theological education, Christian spirituality and Christian education. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Belmont College, the Master of Divinity degree from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a master’s degree and Ph.D. in psychology from George Peabody College for Teachers in Nashville, Tenn.
