Undergraduates Exploring Ministry
Through our Undergraduate Fellowship program, we seek to support gifted young leaders from diverse racial and ethnic communities and a variety of Christian faith traditions who are exploring ministry as vocation. This program provides both financial help and a nurturing network of support during a student's junior or senior year of college.
What does it take to become an Undergraduate Fellow?
To apply for this program, you must be:
- a current sophomore or junior in an accredited undergraduate program at a North American college or university
- nominated by a faculty member, administrator, chaplain or campus minister or current pastor
- a student with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0
- a U.S. or Canadian citizen or permanent resident of either country
Good candidates for the fellowship possess commitment to the church, capacity to work in leadership with others, ability to connect personal faith to larger concerns in church and society, capacity for healthy engagement across cultures and/or lines of difference, emotional maturity, intellectual and theological curiosity, communication and critical thinking skills, personal integrity, self-awareness and healthy boundaries.
Our network of support helps our FTE Fellows realize they aren't alone as they explore and respond to a special calling from God.
What does the Undergraduate Fellowship include?
FTE Undergraduate Fellows are awarded a stipend of $2,000 to apply toward education-related expenses and/or an experience of exploring ministry.

The FTE Leaders in Ministry Conference
FTE Fellows tell us that connecting with others inspires them to keep going as they explore their call to ministry. This gathering brings together new FTE Undergraduate, Volunteers Exploring Vocation and Ministry Fellows with distinguished theologians, ministers and church leaders for several days of thoughtful exchange, including lectures, worship, forums, workshops, recreational activities and informal time together. The conference fosters mentoring relationships as students explore questions of leadership, ministry, service and the nature of Christian vocation.
