In 2014, FTE will celebrate its 60th anniversary! During the last six decades, FTE has given approximately 7,000 fellowships to young adults who are now many of the leading religious voices within denominational bodies, congregations, theological institutions and the broader society. We now seek to carry FTE’s historical mission forward in the face of complex shifts in the church, the economy and theological education.
As we look to a new era of cultivating the next generation of leaders in ministry and teaching, we have begun a process of strategic planning and evaluation of our programs. This process will inform the future direction of our work and help us to discern what strategies will best advance FTE’s vision and mission while maximizing resources and effectively meeting the needs of young leaders in the church and the academy.
FTE will take the next 12 months to engage in this process and will launch a new series of program strategies in 2014, in celebration of FTE’s 60th anniversary. As a result, the following FTE fellowships will be placed under review until October 2013:
- Ministry Fellowship
- Congregational Fellowship
- Undergraduate Fellowship
- Doctoral Fellowship
- North American Doctoral Fellowship
- Dissertation Fellowship
We will not accept applications for the Ministry, Congregational, Undergraduate, Doctoral, North American Doctoral and Dissertation Fellowships for the 2013-2014 academic year.
As the programs listed above undergo a review, we will continue to offer the Volunteers Exploring Vocation (VEV) Fellowship for entering seminarians that have served in a yearlong, faith-based young adult volunteer program.
As we enter this time of evaluation, discernment and planning, we remain excited about a new era in our work and look forward to strengthening our fellowships, programs and strategies to further the work that FTE became a part of in 1954. We look forward to continuing our work and being a part of God’s movement to call young leaders, renew the church and change the world
